It will continually change in order to meet the evolving requirements of society. The iGen, or people born in or after 1995, have a hard time imagining a world without technology.

The education sector appears to be the most affected by the introduction of technological breakthroughs across industries. In fact, technology has always been at the forefront of education since learning and development first began, from the carving of symbols and figures on cave walls to Gurukul education, where students were taught how to use the technology in use at the time, to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR).

There is an infinite amount of knowledge available for learning, either for free or at a cost that is feasible.

It’s interesting to note that, according to Wikipedia, YouTube has over 70 million educational videos. In addition, there are many other educational websites with a variety of knowledge-sharing pages that are provided by reputable subject matter experts in every field.

Students’ reactions to technology

Not too long ago, education was mostly associated with reading books and paying attention to teachers, both of which were monotonous for many students and exhausting for teachers. The introduction of activity-based learning was attempted by some educational institutions, which naturally engaged the students and raised their level of interest to some extent, but the results were not what the institutions had hoped.

The use of contemporary technology in education, such as augmented reality, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence, has improved collaboration and made learning more interesting. According to Schindler et al2017 .’s article, the use of technology in the classroom encourages students to participate in higher-order thinking, foster conversation and discussion, and consider the main points of the lesson. Enhancing digital competency is another benefit. The use of technology in the classroom, according to another study, has increased students’ motivation to comprehend and complete their assignments (Mistler-Jackson & Songer, 2000).

Modern technology helps students develop their analytical and critical thinking skills, which are crucial to overcoming any challenge. There is no doubt that technology increased interest in learning by a factor of 10.

. It has aided the kids in excelling as well as in being successful. This applies to both academic and higher-level professional studies.

Comparing traditional and online education

An average student only reads 5,000 books in his or her lifetime, but they play more than 10,000 hours of video and computer games, according to Marc Prensky [Educational Author 2001]. He added that the current generation of pupils is not the same group for whom our old educational system was created.

The need for technological education methods above traditional education has been acknowledged by several scholars including Pucel and Stertz [2005], Crowe [2004], Lu and Gordon [2009].

The National School Boards Association acknowledged technology competence as a crucial 21st-century learning tool in 2007. The significance of technology in the educational system is summed up by a great quote from John Dewey, “If we teach today’s kids as we taught yesterday’s we rob them of the future” (Agnello, White, & Fryer, 2006).

Using technology in schools and colleges has certain challenges.

Blackboards are far more basic, according to the majority of Gen X teachers, while sophisticated technology is difficult to understand. They think that emotional ties are formed in the classroom that aid in becoming morally upright people. Although they are not unfamiliar with technology, teachers of millennials are busy and don’t have time to stay up to date. The additional obstacles are a lack of funding, restricted or impossible access, low skills, inadequate backing, and insufficient time. Both Butler and Sellbom (2002) and Chizmar & Williams (2001) place an emphasis on hardware compatibility, reliability, and internet-related problems.The rate of technological advancement is accelerating rapidly, thus a device purchased today might not be usable in three months or become completely useless. Money, time, and experience are all required for upgrading those.

Many think that using technology in school will lead to pupils becoming more dependent on technology and becoming less capable of interacting with others. It’s clear that iGen kids are increasingly plugged into their phones and other technology. Even a child under the age of a year calms down and gets more drawn to the phone’s screen. Artificially intelligent machines are currently playing a significant role, though research is ongoing to determine how it can affect the brain.

Kids are fortunate in that they are quickly digital savvy

Nowadays, kids are becoming more and more interested in studying software development. Before kids reach adolescence, they are already capable of learning, analyzing, and creating software. This demonstrates how the brain is gradually changing from its current state to a higher stage of machine language comprehension. Additionally, there are numerous social organizations on the internet for every subject where students can communicate with people who share their viewpoints. It is not entirely accurate to claim that society is getting less socially adept because group conversations and blogs that share knowledge are growing. Just that the platform for the communication medium has changed.
