To win their second T20 World Cup championship in Melbourne on Sunday, England managed to overcome a good effort from Pakistan and defeated them by five wickets.

England did it, and they did it when it mattered the most. Buttler’s England thrashed Pakistan, putting an end to their fantasy run in the ongoing T20 World Cup. With more than 80k cricket fans in the stands at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the English Cricket team will lift the trophy and declare their white-ball dominance over the entire world.

After winning the toss, England decided to start batting. Due to their outstanding performance against New Zealand, Babar & Rizwan started the game off for Pakistan. The English pacers were on point as Sam Curran cut short Mohammad Rizwan’s stay and decimated him while he was batting on 15 off 14 deliveries and the ball was zipping around in the cloudy conditions. On the other hand, as he held one end, Pakistan Cricket team captain Babar Azam managed to keep things under control.

In the end, Azam made 32 runs in 28 balls. As a result of his two fours, the captain scored at a strike rate of 114.29. Adil Rashid’s ingenuity succeeded in trapping Azam. With only 8 runs in 2 overs, Dasher Mohammad Haris failed to live up to his reputation. In their allotted 20 overs, Pakistan managed to score a respectable total of 137 thanks to Shan Masood’s skill. Taking two wickets each were Rashid and Jordan. The Pakistani batsmen were successfully contained by Sam Curran despite his best efforts. 3 wickets were his to keep.

There were high expectations for Alex Hales and captain Jos Buttler following their impressive performance against India. Buttler and Hales both attempted to dominate Pakistan on the big stage by eliminating them quickly, but it was not meant to be. Hales left the game with just 1 run off of 2 balls, and Buttler quickly followed him with 26 runs off of 17 shots. The English batsmen faced numerous challenges as a result of the Pakistani pacers’ rapid entry. Replacement player Philip Salt failed to get going after scoring 10 runs off of 9 deliveries. Particularly impressive with the bat was Shadab Khan, who only allowed 20 runs in his four allotted overs.

When Shaheen limped back to the dressing room, Team Pakistan suffered a major setback. When Ifthikar replaced him, the game shifted in England’s favor. The English overcame a scare on their way to victory and have now repeated their heroics from 2010. England won the World Cup.
