SP Founder and Former Uttar Pradesh CM dies at 82

Mulayam Singh Yadav, the founder of the Samajwadi Party, passed away today at a hospital in
Gurugram after a protracted illness. Since August, the 82-year-old patient had been in the
hospital. The most important political clan in UP was created by Yadav. Ten times as an MLA
and seven times as a member of parliament. In addition, he held the positions of UP CM three
times and defense minister. Even briefly, he seemed to be vying for the position of prime
minister.
His ancestral village of Saifai in the Etawah district would host his final rituals with full state
honors, according to ANI. Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, declared a three-day
state of mourning.

1967: Ram Manohar Lohia’s Sanyukt Socialist Party made its first appearance in the Uttar

with the Sanyukt Socialist Party, resulting in the formation of the Bharatiya Lok Dal. Following
the emergency (1975-1977), Bharatiya Lok Dal merged with Janata Dal.

1977: Becomes minister for the first time.

1980: Got elected as President of Lokdal State.

1982-1987: Elected to the Legislative Council and becomes the Council’s Leader of the
Opposition.

1989-1991: For the first time, he got elected as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

1992: Creates the Samajwadi Party.

1996: Wins the first Lok Sabha election from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, and is appointed Defence minister.

1998: From Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, re-enters the Lok Sabha.

2003: Elected as UP CM third time.

On Monday, politicians from different parties expressed their condolences for Mulayam Singh
Yadav’s passing.

In expressing his sorrow at the senior politician’s passing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted that he was a crucial fighter for democracy during the Emergency. He stated on Twitter that as defense minister, he “fought for a stronger India.” His parliamentary interventions were smart and focused on advancing the interests of the country.

The achievements of Yadav, who came from a regular setting, were outstanding, according to
President Droupadi Murmu. She continued, “People of all parties respected him. “Please accept
my sincere sympathies to his family and friends.

N Chandrababu Naidu, a former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, stated that he had lost a
sibling. He wrote, “Over the past four decades, I’ve had the good opportunity to spend a lot of
time with the OBC stalwart who always impressed me with his charm, modesty, and profound
understanding of Indian politics.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that Yadav’s contribution to Indian
politics
and advocacy for social justice will always be remembered.
